Probably the most valid way to look at the future, in human terms at least, is as a collection of thoughts called "imagination." Similarly, the past is best viewed as another collection of thoughts called "memory." Our experience of the present moment, too, is composed of thoughts that can be grouped as "perception."
These three collections of thoughts--past, present, and future--are the basic components of the Spacious Present. The not-now elements, past and future, are there to provide a context in which for the perceptions of the present to exist. This framing of the moment transforms the dimensionless instant of Now into the spacious experience in which we live.
