I remember faintly a story a friend once told me; about how we are like a television set with many, many, many channels all running at once. Just because we only tune into one, does not mean the others don’t exist, for they do. Hundreds of channels with all types of stories; adventures, mysteries, romance, history, psy/fi, you create it.

Each television is toned to the intent of the family it belongs to. Yes, toned, that’s correct. Pitch, timbre, resonance, sound, and manner. Add to that buttons below that adjust color, shade, hue, brightness, and shadows. Every television is unique in its settings.

There is a scheduling channel that exhibits a presentation of several scenes, as an introductory or preliminary message, sample, or overview. A foretaste, trailer, or preview of coming attractions. This channel runs constantly being broadcast via satellite from the State of Altered.

The problem with this is that we lost the remote between the cushions of our psychological couch, and it seems as though the television is stuck on one channel. But an occasional twist and turn produces an incomprehensible bleed-through from the other channels. Maybe a sound, maybe an image.

But the previews are always clear and available with a slight twist of the attention tuner. And it is those multidimensional previews that make us most aware there is a lot more accessible for our viewing pleasure, and adds to the boredom of the oubliette isolation of single channel viewing.

Remembrance is recalling where you put that remote.
